About Our Office 

The Office of Research and Advisory Services (ORAS) is the central administrative office charged with oversight of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's (VIMS) research and advisory missions. Since its inception in 1940, VIMS has provided advice related to marine and coastal resources to the Commonwealth of Virginia underpinned by state-of-the-art science completed by faculty, scientific staff and graduate students.
