Research Background and Interests
My research background and interests in aquatic ecology have centered around ecosystem function, community assembly processes, and food web structure. The project I currently work on focuses on how these phenomena vary in stream fish communities spanning a sharp rainfall gradient along the Texas coastal plain. Utilizing species abundance, stable isotope, stomach content, and functional trait data in combination with primary production, allochthonous input, and hydrologic data, this research aims to understand how riverine communities may respond to future climate shifts (i.e. precipitation regimes) from a ‘space-for-time’ perspective.Prior to being here at VIMS and having begun my Ph.D. research at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, I received a master’s degree in Freshwater Science and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences and a bachelor’s in biology and environmental science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
