Research Interests: Long-term effectiveness of "living shoreline" techniques for erosion protection, Citizen science applications for shoreline monitoring, Effective coastal training and outreach communication methods

As the CCRM outreach and training coordinator, I publish e-newsletters and translate the latest shoreline management science and policy into training curriculum for government staff, shoreline professionals, and public educators including Virginia Master Naturalists & Extension Master Gardeners. I serve as a community science advisor connecting research scientists with community volunteers for a variety of programs. I am a member of the Living Shoreline Collaborative Steering Committee and serve as the Monitoring Team leader. I also helped establish the Middle Peninsula chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists and serve as the Chapter Advisor. I maintain outreach interpretive aids and supervise volunteers at the Carl Hershner Teaching Marsh, an outdoor wetland classroom on the VIMS campus.
