Burton's Bay Water Quality Data

Fixed depth (~1.5 ft above the bottom) temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, chlorophyll, and BGA-PE measurements are recorded every 15 minutes and are displayed here (see table below for parameter descriptions). 

These graphs have not been subjected to VIMS ESL quality control. Questionable readings, outliers, missed readings, or gaps in the dataset may appear.

Water Temperature

Measurement of the ambient water temperature.
Salinity
ppt Measurement of the amount of salt dissolved in a water sample.
pH
- Numeric scale used to specify the acidity or basicity (alkalinity) of an aqueous solution.

Optical Dissolved Oxygen
mg/L   Measurement of the amount of oxygen that is present in the water, measured by the number of milligrams of oxygen dissolved in a liter of water.
Turbidity
NTU Measurement of water clarity based on the size and quantity of particles present.
Chlorophyll  
ug/L Measurement of chlorophyll a contained in photosynthetic plants and organisms.
BGA-PE
ug/L Measurement of the phycoerythrin accessory pigment found in blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).
