W&M Student Health Center - Student Requirements
- The W&M Student Health Center requires that all new and full-time degree-seeking students complete a Health Evaluation Form by the posted deadline (June 1 for Fall admission or January 10 for Spring admission). The Health Evaluation form can be submitted through the Online Health Portal. If the form is not submitted by the end of the grace period (August 31 for Fall admission or February 28 for Spring admission), a late fee will be charged to the student account.
- Student Health Insurance: All full-time students must enroll in the W&M-endorsed student health insurance plan or submit a waiver by July 31 (or December 31 for the Spring Semester) each academic year. Refer to student requirements for details. Students are automatically enrolled in the W&M-endorsed student health insurance plan unless a waiver request is received by the stated deadline. The online enrollment/waiver request form for the next academic year is usually available in early July. Domestic, part-time students must submit a part-time student status form to be exempt from the insurance requirement.
- If you enroll in the W&M-endorsed insurance plan, you will receive a bill through your student account. VIMS/SMS does not pay the bill for you. You are responsible for paying the student health insurance premiums up-front at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. Please plan accordingly. Refer to the website for the rates.
- A call will be sent out early each semester outlining the process for requesting a health insurance supplement for those who personally purchase the W&M student health insurance or a different external plan.
